M.2 SSD & Small Media Shredding Solutions
Problem: Data Bearing Devices Keep Getting Smaller: M.2 SSDs and other small data bearing devices can pass through SSD shredders with minimal to no damage due to their width being less than the cutters. Generally, M.2-SSDs are less than 1/8″ thick and some thumb drives are the size of a quarter. All are great spacing saving improvements, unless you’re trying to destroy them.
Solution: Ameri-Shred developed precision clearance cutterheads that help with the destruction of M.2-SSDs and other small media by closing gaps. It won’t shred them smaller than 3/8″, but it does help to force the media into the cutters.
Reducing the width of the cutters was not an option without impacting the shredders’ ability to shred denser items. Our solution allows a variety of media to be shred in volume but certain items may require special handling and/or double shredding. We are offering the best of what a shredder can provide without the cost and high maintenance of a disintegrator. As a result, we won the i-SIGMA Impact Award for data destruction innovation at the 2023 annual conference.
These cutterheads are available on all new HDD-SSD and SSD shredders as an upgrade. A retrofit upgrade package is also available on any model five or less years old.
